Type Challenges Across Generations — Baby Boomers/Gen X/Millennials

You’re a “Baby Boomer” supervisor who has paid your dues and knows how things should be done.

Your “Gen X” colleague knows from experience how to play the rules to get what he wants accomplished.

A new “Millennial” colleague arrives on the scene who grew up in the current helicopter parenting culture and has had her identity handed to her.

What part does type play in this scenario? This two-day program for experienced type practitioners will look at these generational differences through the lens of type development. How do Baby Boomers, Gen Xers and Millennials approach:

The new economy
Career expectations and motivations
Potential mid-life concerns
Workplace behaviors
Student and employee retention
Academic and career success
Counseling and coaching relationships
Presenters

Type and learning styles
Type and student development
Type and stress
Type and career decision making
Who Should Attend?

The focus of this program is on type applications in education, and should be of particular interest to college and university advisors, counselors, career counselors, other student support services personnel, and private practice counselors and coaches who work with college students of all ages.

Combining the Strong Interest Inventory™ and MBTI® Assessments
This two-day advanced training addresses the issues that come up after you have been using the two assessments for awhile, and introduces products and support materials beyond the basics. It goes beyond the typical textbook cases where all the test results point in a clear direction, the client is motivated, and the job market is cooperative. The workshop presents a career assessment framework which can be adapted to any career development or human resources setting. Using actual case studies, you will learn to use the Strong Interest Inventory™ and MBTI® assessments with students and clients to:
Fully access occupational resources, career fields, and job titles.
Relate type preferences to RIASEC work environments.
Explore type and the Strong Interest Inventory™ Personal Style Scales.
"Tease" useful information out of flat assessment profiles.
Address the tensions of diametrically opposed interests (Conventional-Artistic) and type/RIASEC mismatches (ENFP accountants).

Apply a diagnostic framework that identifies career crisis points and referral issues beyond the scope of career counseling.

Consider gender and cross cultural issues.
The workshop includes the 2004 Strong Interest Inventory™ instrument Revision and Combined Strong Interest Inventory™ instrument and MBTI® Career Report.
